DAP - Plaster of Paris

Plaster of Paris

Repair walls and create detailed molds with fast-setting plaster

True plaster of Paris, calcium sulfate hemihydrate, sets through chemical reaction rather than evaporation, creating repairs that match the density and hardness of original plaster walls. This matters when patching historic homes or repairing damaged crown molding where modern compounds simply don't bond or finish the same way. DAP's formula mixes smooth without air bubbles, sets firm in 20-30 minutes, and produces a non-shrinking surface that won't crack or pull away as it cures.

The material works equally well for sculptural casting and mold making. Pour into silicone molds for clean reproduction, build up armatures for figure work, or create dimensional elements for relief carving. Four pounds covers approximately 2.25 square feet depending on application thickness, providing enough material for typical wall repairs or multiple small casting projects. The finished surface sands cleanly without crumbling and accepts both oil and latex paints without excessive absorption, though you'll want to wait the full three days for complete cure before painting repairs.

Mix only what you need since working time is limited once water activates the chemical reaction. Clean tools immediately with water; once set, hardened plaster requires cutting or scraping for removal.
